Absolutely not! We like to consider ourselves to be very straight-friendly. The Mari Jean Hotel is an upscale, adults-only, boutique hotel welcoming of any gender and/or identity. Whether a member of our community or an ally (and right now, we all really need allies), we are happy to host you. All are welcome provided each Guest on the reservation is at least age 21.
Respecting all Guests staying at the Mari Jean Hotel, cruising is not permitted on the second or third floors of our Hotel. The Mari Jean Hotel is not a bathhouse. When in your Guest room, please keep the entry door closed and use the deadbolt for your privacy.
On a similar note, our Staff members work to provide you with amazing Guest service throughout your stay with us but are not permitted to fraternize with our Guests.
Check-in is at 3:00 PM and checkout is at 11:00 AM. Please let us know what time you expect to get here so we can prepare for your arrival. You can now check-in securely online before your arrival date.
Planning to arrive before 3:00 PM? We invite you to request an early check-in for a fee. For as early as 1:00 PM, the fee is $50 to prioritize the preparation your room ahead of others for you arrival. For as early as 2:00 PM, the fee is $25. If you plan to arrive before 1:00 PM and would like access to your room, we recommend reserving the night before so your room is held vacant and ready for your earlier arrival. Planning to stay later on the day of your departure? We invite you to request a late checkout for a fee. To keep your room until 12:00 PM, the fee is $25. Until 1:00 PM, the fee is $50. Until 2:00 PM, the fee is $75. Until 3:00 PM, the fee is $100. After 3:00 PM, the fee is equivalent to 100% of the regular rate of the room you've reserved.
Early check-ins and late checkouts are subject to availability and offered online when booking room accommodations and when checking in online prior to your arrival.
We sure do! Within minutes of confirming your room reservation, provided we have a valid mobile number or email address for you on file, we will send you a secure link to safely and quickly check-in online.
Some online travel services remove this link from messages they deliver to you through their booking service. The option to choose which clothes you wear will always be yours to make. And, guys, if your swimsuit isn't small enough, be sure to stop by The Back Room by ZaZoo'd on the ground floor to pick one from our collection of the hottest trends! This being noted, you must wear something unless you’re in your room, with the door securely closed, where you can be as naked as the day you were born! Just remember, the windows in your room are made of glass and not tinted.
Simply stated, we are not a clothing-optional property and do not encourage window performances, such as the case may be.
The primary difference is the location of the room. Aside from the beds (e.g., King, Queen, or Full), most rooms are about 150 square feet in size not including the bathroom, closet, or entryway, all have air conditioning/heat, a flat screen TV, and are decorated with one of many tantalizing themes and décor for which we are known. Rooms with Full-size beds are about 100 square feet in size and do not have a closet or a ceiling fan, but are well-suited for single travelers or a couple who loves to take turns being the big spoon and the little spoon!
Each room has only one bed in the size noted in the category description. Our Club King Second Floor rooms are directly above COCKtail, our nightclub. The music will be heard and the bass will be felt in these rooms until 2:45 AM every night (or should we say morning?). Please do not choose this category if you want a quiet room. Instead, choose any category with the word "Preferred" in the category name for our quietest rooms. This is the reason why our Club King Second Floor rooms are offered often at our lowest room rate.

Although this is not something the Mari Jean Hotel has available to offer, St. Petersburg is home to many, some within walking distance and others including well-known chains within a short drive. We recommend an internet search to choose one that meets your needs - our zip code is 33713 to locate one nearby.
Licensed massage therapists are located within walking distance of the Mari Jean Hotel, but due to in-room space requirements to effectively provide this service on-site, we are unable to offer this service here. While most of our rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves, one room category does, our Preferred King Plus Room. Additionally, our Hotel's ice machine is located off the lobby (second floor) to the right of the Front Desk nearest to room 229. Ice is also plentiful from our Bartenders at our clubs to keep your beverages and medications cold. Similarly, hot water is available for anything you need to warm up that can be warmed in a hot-water bath. A hot water tap is available 24/7 at the coffee brewer on the breakfast counter in our Hotel's Lobby. Please plan accordingly if you travel with medication that requires refrigeration by bringing a cooler and/or dry ice to safely store your medication, or by booking a Preferred King Plus Room.

Halloween on Central historically occurs on the last Sunday in October. In 2026, this will be on October 24, 2026. Dates for Summer Pride 2026 have not yet been announced. Historically, the City of St. Petersburg officially kicks off Pride Month on June 1st and celebrates Summer Pride over the fourth weekend in June. In 2026, this will be June 25 through June 28. Multiple transportation options are almost at your doorstep when staying at the Mari Jean Hotel.
All services listed above are offered by third-party providers. With so many options, the Mari Jean Hotel does not have its own shuttle service.
Upon arrival, one parking space located closest to the corner of Central Avenue and 24th Street has been designated by the City of St. Petersburg as a 30-minute loading/unloading zone only, for the convenience of our Hotel Guests checking in or checking out. To the right of this space, complimentary street-side parking is restricted by the City to two (2) hours Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with no time restriction between 6:00 PM Friday and 8:00 AM Monday.
Our Hotel parking lot, as small as it is, offers 17 spaces for our Hotel Guests who plan ahead. A valid Mari Jean Hotel Parking Permit is required and must be displayed in your vehicle’s driver’s side windshield to prevent your vehicle from being towed. A nightly permit fee of $25+ tax ($26.75) is applied to your room account whether you book directly on our site or text our Hotel's Front Desk to request a permit (see below for details).
Our parking lot is located immediately behind our Hotel at the corner of 24th Street North and 1st Avenue North. Non-permitted, unattended vehicles are subject to towing at the owner's expense. Lot availability is first-come/first-served and is not guaranteed without a Parking Permit reservation. Only Guests with confirmed room reservations may reserve a Parking Permit.
No-cost street-side parking is available on community streets near our Hotel wherever the City of St. Petersburg has not posted signs limiting or prohibiting parking. Which you choose is your decision but please know parking can be challenging to find from time to time, especially during weekends, holidays, and special events.

For lunch and dinner beginning at 11:00 AM Fridays through Sundays, and at 12:00 PM Mondays through Thursdays, we are pleased to offer you a broad selection of meal options ranging from salads and sides to entrees and desserts. Our Bartenders at COCKtail, The WET SPOT Pool Bar & Day Club, and The Ball will be happy to take your order and one of our Runners will deliver it to you fresh from our on-site kitchen!
On the second Sunday of every month, The WET SPOT is the place to be for Drag Bitchin' Brunch, 2 hours of hilarious antics and amazing talent presented poolside! No reservations needed... just arrive on the pool deck as early as 11:00 AM to be seated! Or, reserve a poolside VIP Cabana for your party. Each can accommodate up to 8 Guests. CLICK HERE for details. Beginning in December 2025, the fourth Sunday of every month will be added to the schedule, providing two monthly days from which to choose! During brunch, only our brunch menu will be available. Afterward, our lunch/dinner menu will resume.
Although we do not offer room service delivery, we invite you to enjoy dining indoors at COCKtail or outdoors at The WET SPOT - or even at our sidewalk tables in front of the Mari Jean Hotel! Our lunch and dinner menu is available to anyone visiting the property regardless of whether staying at the Mari Jean Hotel.

The Mari Jean Hotel benefits from being poolside at The WET SPOT Pool Bar & Day Club, open daily to Hotel Guests for swimming between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Hours are subject to change during special events. Pool access is not guaranteed during special events and / or the purchase of a pool pass or event tickets may be required.
Pool towels are available at our Hotel's Front Desk with your ID. Your ID will be swapped for a pool towel in a one-for-one exchange and returned to you when you return the towel to our Front Desk.
Please leave your drink cups, bottles, cans, and drinks you've mixed yourself in your room. Bringing these to the pool, to COCKtail, or to The Ball is not permitted and violates our liquor license, one of the primary reasons many Guests visit us every day.
Not only is the Mari Jean Hotel an ideal location to host Guests attending a local wedding, anniversary celebration, vow renewal, awards party, or other event, our pool deck offers an amazing backdrop for a ceremony, and our lounge, The Ball, can host the reception for Guest lists of about 100 or more!

Yes*; you may have Guests in your room provided you greet your Guests downstairs on the ground floor and accompany them to your room and back downstairs after they visit.
Unescorted, unregistered Guests are not permitted to enter our Hotel for your security and privacy. If you have a Guest who happens to need a place to sleep and you’ve been kind enough to offer the other side (or middle) of your bed, please be sure to register your Guest with our Front Desk. A valid, photo ID is required, such as a driver's license, government-issued passport, or active military ID.
When three Guests are staying in one room with a King bed, a $25 +tax per night charge will be applied to your room account. Rooms with a Queen bed or a Full bed are limited to no more than two Guests. The one bed per room you reserve is the maximum bedding permitted. City building codes and fire safety codes prohibit use of roll-aways or cots in any of our rooms.

Smoking/vaping is permitted in designated outdoor locations at The WET SPOT Pool Bar & Day Club (specifically the north end or to the far left when exiting the building; look for highly visible signage or ask for guidance if needed) and along Central Avenue in front of COCKtail and the Mari Jean Hotel. All indoor locations are smoke-free, including public spaces and Guest rooms. Similarly, the burning of candles in our Guest rooms is not permitted. We want every Guest to enjoy a freshly cleaned room free of smoke throughout each stay. Opening a Guest room window does not grant one the right to smoke/vape in the room and a minimum fee of $250 will be added to the room account of any Guest who is or has smoked in his/her room.
The smoking or vaping of marijuana or any derivative thereof is not permitted on-property or on the sidewalk even with a medical marijuana card. Such a card does not extend to our private on-property locations. Recreational use and/or possession of cannabis is illegal in the State of Florida.
When you stay at the Mari Jean Hotel, enjoy peace of mind knowing that your room will be thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival and throughout your visit. You may also opt-out of these services by notifying our Front Desk. Here is the schedule:
When staying 1 or 2 nights, your bed will be made, your trashcan will be emptied, and your room’s carpet will be vacuumed.
When staying 3 nights or more, every 4th day your linen and towels will be changed.
If you wish to decline housekeeping service at any time during your stay, your room will still be inspected on a daily basis during reasonable daytime hours for the safety comfort of all our Guests and Staff members.

When confirming a room reservation, please take the time to read all terms & conditions, policies, and house rules. When these are followed, we charge no cleaning fees.
Although we do not like to charge a cleaning fee, a small number of past Guests have disregarded our policies, ruining our expensive linen, custom printed in-room décor, and plush bath towels. From cosmetics to the unthinkable, we now pass along costs for excessive cleaning and replacements to the responsible Guest(s), costs that include shipping and handling.
Cleaning and replacement costs begin at $250. In severe cases, to remain OSHA-compliant and ensure the safety of our Staff members, other Guests, and service providers, this fee may be higher.
It truly is surprising when Guests choose to smoke or vape in their room. Similarly, the burning of candles in our Guest rooms is not permitted. Opening the window does not excuse this choice, and in-room signage is posted to remind each Guest of the fee. Our air handling systems are very good at highlighting the offending room.
Please think before you misuse any of our in-room amenities, accidentally or intentionally. Please also think before you light up or vape in your room. Every arriving Guest is entitled to a freshly clean and inspected room that has not required our Housekeeping team hours to restore after someone checks out.
Make good choices. The Mari Jean Hotel deserves to sparkle for everyone as she enters her second century serving Guests.
Personal effects found in our Hotel are turned in to our Front Desk and catalogued in our lost & found as well as on the reservation for the room where they were found or in our internal logs for those found in our hallways or our Hotel Lobby.
One outreach will be made by our Hotel if the owner of an item is known at the time it is turned in by Housekeeping or another Guest. This outreach is often made by text/SMS to the mobile number on the Guest's account. Due to limited storage space, unclaimed items can only be held for 30 days before being discarded or donated.
