Absolutely not! The Mari Jean Hotel is an upscale, adults-only, boutique hotel welcoming of any gender and/or identity. Guests do not have to be gay or even male to stay at the hotel. All are welcome provided each Guest on the reservation is at least age 21. 

Respecting all Guests staying at the Mari Jean Hotel, cruising is not permitted in our Guest room hallways or hotel lobby. The Mari Jean Hotel is not a bathhouse. When in your Guest room, please keep the entry door closed and use the deadbolt for your privacy.

On a similar note, our Staff members work to provide you with great Guest service throughout your stay with us but are not permitted to fraternize with our Guests. 

For stays including or commencing on or after November 1, 2024, the following terms and conditions apply with regard to credit and debit cards used to book room reservations and presented to the hotel for incidental charges:

• A preauthorization hold for $250 USD will be placed on the card on the scheduled arrival date, serving to guarantee payment for incidental charges and as a security deposit. 
• This preauthorization hold will appear in your bank account as a pending transaction or pending charge, reducing your available spending by $250 USD until the hold expires. Please consider carefully when choosing to present a debit card.
• The Mari Jean Hotel is operated by Pour Behavior LLC, the same company that operates COCKtail, The WET SPOT, and The Saint Speakeasy. Preauthorizations and posted charges from the hotel will appear on account statements as either "Mari Jean Hotel" or "Pour Behavior LLC", depending on the bank processing the preauthorization or charge. Hotel receipts printed or emailed by the hotel’s Front Desk list "Mari Jean Hotel" as the business entity at the top of the receipt.  
• Purchases from the hotel’s on-site store, The Back Room by Zazoo’d will show as "Zazoo’d" on your bank account and store receipts.
• If the card on file is declined for the required initial authorization hold, you must provide another card or a cash deposit in the amount of $250 USD before keys to your room will be issued. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of your first night’s room and tax prepayment and room accommodations will be refused.
• Acceptance of a card payment is subject to approval by the issuing financial institution; the transactions that appear on your itemized folio(s) will be charged to your payment card account(s) that you have previously placed on file and will be transmitted electronically without further approval from you and that your personal liability for this account is not waived if another person, company or association is billed, but fails to pay.
• Unused amounts from the preauthorization will expire within seven (7) days of your departure from the Mari Jean Hotel without further action required from you.

The option to choose which clothes you wear will always be yours to make. And, guys, if your swimsuit isn't small enough, be sure to stop by The Back Room by ZaZoo'd on the bottom floor to pick one from our collection of the hottest trends! This being noted, you must wear something unless you’re in your room, with the door securely closed, where you can be as naked as the day you were born! Just remember, the windows in your room are made of glass and not tinted. Simply stated, we are not a clothing-optional property and do not encourage window performances, such as the case may be.

The primary difference is the location of the room. Aside from the beds (e.g., King, Queen, or Full), most rooms are about 150 square feet in size not including the bathroom, closet, or entryway, all have air conditioning/heat, a flat screen TV, and are decorated with one of many tantalizing themes and décor for which we are known. Rooms with Full-size beds are about 100 square feet in size and do not have a closet or a ceiling fan, but are well-suited for single travelers or a couple who loves to take turns being the big spoon and the little spoon!

Each room has only one bed in the size noted in the category description. Our Run of House room category also has only one bed and its size will be based on availability on the day of your arrival as selected by our Front Desk Staff members. Please do not choose this category if you want a quiet room. Instead, choose any category with the word "Standard" in the category name. In exchange for your flexibility and willingness to make no requests, we offer this category as our lowest room rate.

Although this is not something the Mari Jean Hotel has available to offer, St. Petersburg is home to many, some within walking distance and others including well-known chains within a short drive. We recommend an internet search to choose one that meets your needs - our zip code is 33713 to locate one nearby.

Licensed massage therapists are located within walking distance of the Mari Jean Hotel, but due to in-room space requirements to effectively provide this service on-site. Check out the many professionals around us - our zip code is 33713, helpful to know when searching online.

While our rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves, our hotel's ice machine is located off the lobby (second floor) to the right of the front desk. Ice is also plentiful from our Bartenders at our clubs to keep your beverages and medications cold. Similarly, hot water is available for anything you need to warm up that can be warmed in a hot-water bath. Please plan accordingly if you travel with medication that requires refrigeration by bringing a cooler and/or dry ice to safely store your medication.

While our Staff members love pets, our historic building does not permit pets. For information about service dogs, please call us directly or text us at 727-289-1298 anytime between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Subject to availability, reservations may be booked for arrival within the next 180 rolling days from the current date. Although details for holidays and special events may not be available when booking, as soon as they are, our future Guests will be among the first to learn about them. Currently, the only exception to this rolling calendar applies to the booking of accommodations for Winter PRIDE 2025. Reservations may now be booked for arrivals between 02/16/2025-02/23/2025. Summer PRIDE 2025, while not yet announced by the City of St. Petersburg, is likely to be held over the fourth weekend in June, spanning Thursday, June 26, 2025, through and including Sunday, June 29, 2025. 

Halloween on Central, while also not yet announced by the City of St. Petersburg, may occur on Sunday, October 26, 2025, or the following weekend, Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and checkout is at 11:00 AM. Please let us know what time you expect to get here so we can prepare for your arrival. You can now check-in securely online before your arrival date.

Planning to arrive before 3:00 PM? We invite you to request an early check-in for a fee. For as early as 1:00 PM, the fee is $50 to prioritize the preparation your room ahead of others for you arrival. For as early as 12:00 PM, the fee is $25. If you plan to arrive before 1:00 PM and would like access to your room, we recommend reserving the night before so your room is held vacant and ready for your earlier arrival. Planning to stay later on the day of your departure? We invite you to request a late checkout for a fee. To keep your room until 12:00 PM, the fee is $25. Until 1:00 PM, the fee is $50. Until 3:00 PM, the fee is $100. After 3:00 PM, the fee is equivalent to 100% of the regular rate of the room you've reserved.

Early check-ins and late checkouts are subject to availability and offered online when booking room accommodations and when checking in online prior to your arrival.

Multiple transportation options are almost at your doorstep when staying at the Mari Jean Hotel. 

• The Central Avenue Trolley offers free transportation to the St. Pete Pier and connections to other destinations from the Grand Central Terminal, including our famous beaches. 
• One block north and one block south, the Sunrunner makes regular loops between the beaches and the Pier. Checkout PSTA.net for maps, schedules, and more. 
• Rideshare options like Uber and Lyft can be ordered from your smartphone for local trips or even to/from the airport (PIE and TPA).
• Private limousine service is even an option for your special occasion. Ask us for details!

All services listed above are offered by third-party providers. With so many options, the Mari Jean Hotel does not have its own shuttle service.

The hotel parking lot offers limited spaces for our hotel Guests who plan ahead. A valid Mari Jean Hotel Parking Permit is required and must be displayed in your vehicle’s driver’s side windshield to prevent your vehicle from being towed. A nightly permit fee of $25+ tax ($26.75) is applied to your room account whether you book directly on our site or text the hotel's front desk to request a permit (see below for details).

The hotel's parking lot is located immediately behind the hotel at the corner of 24th Street North and 1st Avenue North. Non-permitted, unattended vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense. Lot availability is first-come/first-served and is not guaranteed without a reservation. Only Guests with confirmed room reservations may reserve a parking space.

No-cost street-side parking is available on community streets near the hotel wherever the City of St. Petersburg has not posted signs limiting or prohibiting parking. Which you choose is your decision but please know parking can be challenging to find from time to time, especially during weekends, holidays, and special events. 

Parking may be added, subject to availability, when booking your room accommodations or by texting the hotel's Front Desk at 727-289-1298 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Eastern Time daily. Along with your room reservation confirmation number and travel dates handy, please include the primary name on your reservation.

Unless the vehicle will be a rental, please also include its year, color, make, and model.

Registered hotel Guests enjoy continental breakfast in our second floor lobby daily between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Fresh coffee (decaf and tea upon request), fresh juice, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, and more help get the day started... all included with a confirmed hotel room reservation.

For lunch and dinner beginning at 11:30 AM, we are pleased to offer you a broad selection of meal options ranging from salads and sides to entrees and desserts. Our Bartenders at COCKtail and The Wet Spot Pool Bar & Day Club will be happy to take your order and one of our Runners will deliver it to you fresh from our on-site kitchen! Although we do not offer room service delivery, we invite you to enjoy dining indoors at COCKtail or outdoors at The Wet Spot - or even at our sidewalk tables in front of the Mari Jean Hotel! Our lunch and dinner menu is available to anyone visiting the property regardless of whether staying at the Mari Jean Hotel.

Beginning at 6:00 PM each evening, registered Guests of the Mari Jean Hotel are invited to the hotel's second floor lobby for our hotel Guest-exclusive wine & cheese social... also included with a confirmed hotel room reservation. 

Other nearby options can be found on our website: CLICK HERE and scroll down to ‘Restaurants We Love’. Door Dash, Uber Eats, and other similar food delivery services may also be options to consider. Just be sure to meet the courier at the hotel’s front doors on the bottom floor since access is restricted to only hotel Guests with room keys.

Most definitely! Reservation requests are accepted in advance of your stay. Email Sleep@MariJeanHotel.com with your confirmation number, date, and time you’d like to request a reservation. One of our Staff members will follow up with you on availability, cost, and other details to confirm your cabana reservation. The Mari Jean Hotel benefits from being poolside at The Wet Spot Pool Bar & Day Club, open daily to hotel Guests for swimming between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM. Pool towels are available at the pool from the Bar Staff at COCKtail or The Wet Spot with your photo ID and room key beginning at 11:00 AM Fridays through Sundays and 12:00 PM noon Mondays through Thursdays. For towels earlier in the morning, please visit the hotel’s Front Desk with your ID. Your ID will be swapped for a pool towel in a one-for-one exchange and returned to you when you return the towel from the location where it was obtained.

Please leave your drink cups, bottles, cans, and drinks you've mixed yourself in your room. Bringing these to the pool or to COCKtail is not permitted and violates our liquor license, one of the primary reasons many Guests visit us every day.

Not only is the Mari Jean Hotel an ideal location to host Guests attending a local wedding, anniversary celebration or vow renewal, our pool deck offers an amazing backdrop for a ceremony and our speakeasy on the bottom floor of the hotel can host the reception for Guest lists of about 50! Currently, while this is not possible, please be sure to carry valid photo ID, such as a driver's license, government-issued passport, or active military ID, and your preferred method of payment with you when visiting our clubs and merchandise shop, The Back Room by ZaZoo’d.

*When booking a room reservation in person, cash is accepted but a credit/debit card with an available credit line of a minimum $250 USD must be presented to the front desk. 

Whether for work or pleasure, yes, the Mari Jean Hotel offers Guests complimentary high speed WiFi in our hotel rooms and throughout public spaces including the pool and clubs. Ask the Front Desk for details or look at the back of your room key packet provided by the Front Desk when you arrived. Guest rooms have individual signal boosters to account for the concrete walls, floors, and ceilings.

Yes; you may have Guests in your room provided you greet your Guests downstairs on the bottom floor and accompany them to your room and back downstairs after they visit. 

Unescorted, unregistered Guests are not permitted to enter the hotel for your security and privacy. If you have a Guest who happens to need a place to sleep and you’ve been kind enough to offer the other side (or middle) of your bed, please be sure to register your Guest with the front desk. A valid, photo ID is required, such as a driver's license, government-issued passport, or active military ID.

When three Guests are staying in one room with a King bed, a $25 +tax per night charge will be applied to your room account. Rooms with a Queen bed or a Full bed are limited to no more than two Guests. The one bed per room you reserve is the maximum bedding permitted. Fire safety codes prohibit use of roll-aways or cots in any of our rooms. 

Smoking/vaping is permitted in designated outdoor locations at The Wet Spot Pool Bar & Day Club (specifically the north end or to the far left when exiting the building; look for highly visible signage or ask for guidance if needed) and along Central Avenue in front of COCKtail and the Mari Jean Hotel. 

All indoor locations are smoke-free, including public spaces and Guest rooms. We want every Guest to enjoy a freshly cleaned room free of smoke throughout each stay. Opening a Guest room window does not grant one the right to smoke/vape in the room and a minimum fee of $250 will be added to the room account of any Guest who is or has smoked in his/her room. 

The smoking or vaping of marijuana or any derivative thereof is not permitted on-property or on the sidewalk even with a medical marijuana card. Such a card does not extend to our private on-property locations. Recreational use and/or possession of cannabis is illegal in the State of Florida.

When you stay at the Mari Jean Hotel, enjoy peace of mind knowing that your room will be thoroughly cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival and throughout your visit. You may also opt-out of these services by notifying the front desk. Here is the schedule:

When staying 1 or 2 nights, your bed will be made, your trashcan will be emptied, and your room’s carpet will be vacuumed.

When staying 3 nights or more, every 4th day your linen and towels will be changed.

If you wish to decline housekeeping service at any time during your stay, your room will still be inspected on a daily basis during reasonable daytime hours for the safety comfort of all our Guests and Staff members. 

If you require additional housekeeping amenities or have specific housekeeping requests, please visit the hotel's Front Desk. 

When confirming a room reservation, please take the time to read all terms & conditions, policies, and house rules. When these are followed, we charge no cleaning fees.

Although we do not like to charge a cleaning fee, a small number of past Guests have disregarded our policies, ruining our expensive linen, custom printed in-room décor, and plush bath towels. From cosmetics to the unthinkable, we now pass along costs for excessive cleaning and replacements to the responsible Guest(s), costs that include shipping and handling.

Cleaning and replacement costs begin at $250. In severe cases, to remain OSHA-compliant and ensure the safety of our Staff members, other Guests, and service providers, this fee may be doubled or more.

It truly is surprising when Guests choose to smoke or vape in their room. Opening the window does not excuse this choice and in-room signage is posted to remind each Guest of the fee. Our air handling systems are very good at highlighting the offending room.

Please think before you misuse any of our in-room amenities, accidentally or intentionally. Please also think before you light up in your room. Every arriving Guest is entitled to a freshly clean and inspected room that has not required our housekeeping team hours to restore it after someone checks out. 

Make good choices. The Mari Jean deserves to sparkle for everyone as she prepares for her 100th birthday!

Personal effects found in the hotel are turned in to the hotel's Front Desk and catalogued in our lost & found and on the reservation for the room where they were found or in our internal logs for those found in our hallways or the lobby. 

One outreach will be made by the hotel if the owner of an item is known at the time it is turned in by Housekeeping or another Guest. This outreach is often made by text/SMS to the mobile number on the Guest's account. Due to limited storage space, unclaimed items can only be held for 30 days before being discarded or donated.
